As of 2001[update] India census, Nasirabad had a population of 9,353. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Nasirabad has an average literacy rate of 40%, male literacy is 48%, and female literacy is 30%.

Nasirabad is the land of ijtehad and most famous of Ayatollah Syed Dildar Ali Naseerabadi (مولانا سيد دلدار على نصيرابادى) - also known as Ghufran-Ma'ab (غفران ماب) was a Shia scholar of India.
One of the earliest settlements of Naqvi's is reported from Nasirabad, Raibareli in North India. Naqvi Sadats migrated from SUBZWAR (IRAN) & arrived in Nasirabad around 410 Hijri (around 1027 A.D.) and settled there. After some time adjacent Patakpur (Nasirabad), was also inhabited by Momineens and rechristened as Naseerabad after the name of Syed Naseerudin. Nasirabad are the earliest known Naqvi Sadats of India. Naseerabad are the native land of Khandan e Ijtihad and multitude of very high ranking scholars have come from there. The 1st Mujtahid from India, Ayatullah il Uzma Sayyid Dildar Ali Naqvi Naseerabadi 'Gufraanmaab (ar)' was from here and later his family came to be called Khandan e Ijtihad due to the heavy presence of high ranking scholars.Some famous and known religious scholars from this lineage include Syedul Ulema Ayatullah Syed Ali Naqi Naqvi 'Naqqan', Jannat Ma'ab Ayatullah Syed Mohammad Naqvi, Ayatullah Aqa Hasan Sb, Ayatullah Syed Kalbe Hussain Naqvi, Hujjatul Islam Syed Kalbe Abid Naqvi, Hujjatul Islam Syed Kalbe Jawwad Naqvi, Hujjatul Islam Syed Hasan Zafar Naqvi(based in Karachi), Allama Syed Razi Jafar, Allama Nasir Ijtehadi, Dr Kalbe Sadiq, Hujjatul Islam Syed Ali Mohammad Naqvi .
Muharram is observed here with great fervour and great enthusiasm. The significant importance attached to the event of martyrdom of Imam Hussain (a.s) and consequently muharram has shaped the cultural evolution of Nasirabad. There are some grand old buildings of archaelogical imporatnce built here, which are called Imambargahs. There have been many religious leaders of pan indian influence, with their roots from this place. Muharram observations have also helped flourished the Urdu literature, here. There have never been dearth of Urdu poets specialising in the art of 'Mersia' and 'Nauha' in Nasirabad and many of them were acclaimed as the peers of urdu literature. Therefore, great traditional values are attached to the Muharram events and are observed by arranging religious sittings(Majlis) of gents and ladies. Besides these, there are Matami Juloos (Sad Processions) with recitation of Nauhas (sad poems) and flagging with chains.
